JORDAN REFEREES SELECTED FOR FIFA WORLD CUP
Apr 09, 2026
FIFA has selected three Jordanian referees to officiate matches at this summer’s World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The refereeing crew includes senior referee Adham Al-Mokhadmeh, alongside assistant referees Ahmad Al-Ruwaileh and Mohammad Al-Bakkar.
They were chosen alongside three other Asian refereeing ‘teams’ selected for the tournament, after successfully passing a series of theoretical and practical assessments conducted by FIFA to ensure readiness for the world’s biggest football event.
Al-Mokhadmeh’s selection marks a historic achievement for Jordanian football, as he will become the first Jordanian main referee to officiate at a FIFA World Cup.
The first Jordanian refereeing participation at a FIFA World Cup came through the late assistant referee Awni Hassouneh, who officiated at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan.
