Rasha Ayoub

From local competition to the road to London 2012, Rasha Ayoub is on the run all the way to Olympic fame

1. How did you get into your sport?

I started running at school and achieved many good results at school championships. As I got older I found myself in love with Running and started training intensively. I attracted the National Coach Khalid Hindawi, who has played a significant role in my career. I joined Yarmouk Al-Baq'a Club in 2005 and have since represented Jordan in overseas Championships.

2. What have been your main achievements?

  • Bronze Medal in Arab Championship Tunis 2008

  • New record in Cross Country championship Jordan 2009

  • New record for Jordan in Arab Championship Egypt 2009

3. What is the biggest highlight / moment of your career ?

It was when I set a new record for Jordan in the Arab Championship; it's wonderful to achieve something for your beloved country.

4. What are your ambitions / goals now?

To participate in the Olympic Games 2012 and set a new record for my country.

5. How do you think your sport can be improved?

We need for more overseas participation and also we need to apply an "Olympic athletes preparation project". Through this programme we will find more talented people that can write a new history for Jordan.

6. How do you spend your time away from sport?

With my Family and Studying.

7. What are your main hobbies / interests?

Swimming.

8. If you were given one million dinars how would you spend it?

I would to support talented athlete programmes and complete my education.

9. Who do you consider as your idol(s)?

My Parents.

10. Who are your favorite overseas and local athletes?

Locally, runner Miriam Jamal and overseas the Portugal footballer Christiano Ronaldo.

11. What message or advice would you like to give youngsters coming into sport?

I advise them to keep on practicing. They must follow the coach’s directions.

12. What is your Favorite food?

Spaghetti.

13. Last words for your fans?

First, I would like to thank HRH Prince Feisal Al-Hussein for his great support as well as the Jordan Olympic Committee. And special thanks to my federation and my great Coach Khalid Hindawi who support and encourage me.
