Youth Olympic Ambassador's Plea to the Young
Maisam Bisharart, Jordan’s Youth Olympic Games Ambassador, has made an impassioned plea for Jordan’s youth to embrace sport.
The equestrian star, aged 26, has launched her role as the Kingdom’s ambassador to the first Youth Olympics to be held in Singapore later this year by a round of media interviews aimed at promoting the Olympic ideals and sport in general.
Speaking on local radio, she underlined the importance of sport in individual and social development and highlighted its power to bring people together by encouraging cultural understanding.
“The Olympic Movement is truly global and manages to bridge the divides and bring people together from all backgrounds and cultures,” she said.
“I want to tell every Jordanian youth who sees talent in themselves to show it and improve it, and I will be available to help.”
She also visited the Summer Adventure Camp that is held during the holidays which includes children from different ages. She explained her role to them and that of the Youth Olympics which will feature thousands of young athletes from almost 200 countries.
