Miriam Hatamleh
"Butterfly of Jordan swimming " started sport when she was very young to make a
new records in the world of swimming and put her name in a head of world
swimming champions, won many gold medals and struggled world swimming champions,
Quiet by her nature and strong in her well, she raised the Jordanian flag in
different championships to write a new History for the swimming in Jordan.

1. How did you get into your sport?
At the beginning I was going to play sport in general with my Family because I
belong to family that inspired with sport, then I found that I have tendency
toward swimming among all sports, so I started practice swimming extensively in
Al-Hussein sport City, My mother notice how much I become inspired with swimming
so she encouraged me to join a Formal Club to represent it, I joined al Hussein
Club on 1999 and proved a good talent in this sport to attend the national club
on 2004.
2. What have been your main achievements?
* Gold medal in the west Asian championship in Qatar 2005
* Gold medal in Arab Junior championship in Morocco 2007
* I got 5 Gold medals in "Shal" championship in Cairo 2008
* Young achiever of the year according to black Iris sports media awards on 2008
3. What is the biggest highlight / moment of your career?
When I participate in the Arab championship in Qatar where it was my First a
broad participation and I was 12 years old , I was so happy when I saw the
Jordanian flag raising in front of my Eyes with national anthem because of my
winning .
4. What are your ambitions / goals now?
Participate in the Olympic Games and make a new record.
5. How do you think your sport can be improved?
I think we need to do more boards camps to benefit from the other players, and
also we need High level Coaches because we don’t have enough number of Coaches,
so that we can benefit from their experience.
6. How do you spend your time away from sport?
Going out with my Family and study.
7. What are your main hobbies / interests?
Follow up football and Basketball matches.
8. If you were given one million dinars how would you spend it?
I will help the charity associations, and built a Hospital and Houses for
orphans and of course support my sport in Jordan.
9. Who do you consider as your idol(s)?
My father on the personal level, and Michael Fillips on the international level
10. Who are your favorite overseas and local athletes?
Locally the football player Omar Athamneh and overseas the Swiss tennis player
Roger Federer.
11. What message or advice would you like to give youngsters coming into
sport?
First, they must keep on their training and always being prepared for the
championships by training and insisting on win and unlike our days, they should
know that today they have the chance to prove themselves.
12. What is your Favorite food?
Barbecue.
13. Last words for your fans?
First, I would like to thank HRH Prince Feisal bin Al-Hussein and all of the
sport institutions for their support and many thank for Jordan swimming
federation also I would like to thank our crowd who always stand behind the
players and tell them that we will keep on our achievements and Jordan flag will
be always High in different championships.
