  About the Federation


- Athletic federation was formed officially in 1961.
- Mr. Muneer Amro was the first President of the federation in 1967.
- Records show that athletics was played as far back as 1927 in schools’ Festivals.
- Participated in all Arabian championships starting from first Arabian championship in Alexandria in 1953.
- Jordan Athletic federation joined the following regional and international federations:

  • International Athletic Federation in 1961.

  • Arabian Athletic Federation in 1975.

  • Asian Athletic federation in 1975.

Regional and International Achievements

  1. Obtaining the First gold Medal in the second Pan Arab Games in 1957 by athlete Mohammad Jamil Abu Altayeb.
     

  2. Hosting 37th World Cross Country Championship in Amman on 28/03/2009.
     

  3. Obtaining Silver Medal in Asian Youth championship in Indonesia by Bara’ah Awadallah in the 3000 m racing with the record (11.32.90).
     

  4. Obtaining Silver Medal in Asian Athletic Championship which was held in Cairo in November 2007 by Khalil Hanahneh and he set a new record (20.18s).
     

  5. Obtaining Gold Medal in long jump competitions and set a new record (6.01s) by Rima Fareed in the 15th Arab Athletic Championship in Amman on 18/05/2009.
     

  6. Obtaining Bronze Medal (200m competition) in the 17th Asian Athletic Championship which was held in Amman between 25-29/07/2007 by Kalil Hanahneh and set (21.11s).
     

  7. Obtaining Gold Medal in the 3000m junior woman racing which was held in Syria on 27/06/2007 by Bara’a Awadallah, and set (11.05.99s).
     

  8. Organizing 17th Asian athletic championship in Amman between 25-29/07/2007.
     

  9. Obtaining Gold Medal in the Arab Championship for youth which was held in Egypt on November 2006 by Rasheed Arnoos (10.36s).
     

  10. Obtaining two Gold Medal in Arab Championship (Al Hussain Championship) in 1999 by Nada Qawar in discus (57.52m) and shot put (17.33m).
     

  11. Obtaining Gold Medal in high jump competition by Faker Alden Fuad (Al-Hussain championship) which was held in Amman on 11/08/1999 and set a new record (2.19m).
