1. How did you get into your sport?
My father is a PE professor and two of my sisters, Miriam and Anne, are very good swimmers. I was a swimmer too but they encouraged me concentrate on tennis and it was the best decision I have made in my life! I started playing at the age of six at Al Hassan Youth Club. It has gone from there and I have achieved great results which qualified me for the national team.
2. What have been your main achievements?
My breakthrough came when I won the qualifying event for the International KIA Championship which enabled me to watch the final of the Australia Open where I met some of the giants of the game.
3. How do you think your sport can be improved?
Tennis needs more attention. Local people need to be made aware of tennis. I feel we can improve our sport if we get more chances to compete at international level.
4. How do you see your future in your sport?
I must first pass my high school education as I want to study Physical Education. I will be always play tennis and maybe become a coach in the future.
5. How do you spend your time away from sport?
With my Family and sometimes I go with my friends to Al Hassan Club to follow my sisters’ training.
6. What are your main hobbies / interests?
I like to draw because it allows me to share my views on life. It relaxes me.
7. What ‘saying’ do you believe in...
“No Pain, no Gain!”
8. Who do you consider as your idol?
The Cuba revolutionist Ernesto “Che “Guevara. I love his beliefs and the way he fought oppression in his country.
9. Who are your local and international athletes?
Locally, Jordan footballer Abdullah Al Shyab. Internationally, I admire Serena Williams. I like the way she plays; how she attacks; she is very strong with great technique.
10. Which player would you like to play against?
It would be a dream to play against against Serena. I know it’s difficult but it’s not impossible!
11. If you could roll back time, would you choose badminton or another
sport?
I was a swimmer and changed to tennis and would never change back!
12. What kind of Music do you like and what is your favourite film?
I like Nationalistic Songs because it encourages me to do the impossible for my country. I like educational Movies like “The Secret“ because it shows the positive values of life.
13. If you had one wish what would it be?
I want to one day compete at the Australian Open. If feel I can do it and I will die trying!
14. What message or advice would you like to give youngsters coming into
sport?
To practice no matter what obstacles you face. Listen to the coaches and if it doesn’t work at the beginning, try again and again.
15. What is your Favorite food?
Mansaf.
16. If you had five flowers, who would you give them to?
The first is for my Parents and the second is to Jordan Tennis Federation. The Third one is for Al Hassan Club which consider as the Cradle of most Jordan champions and the Fourth is to Jordan Olympic Committee and big one for Jordan People.
